Wash Day Diary: 21.04.12
https://healthell.blogspot.com/2012/04/wash-day-diary-210412.html
This is the process I followed:
1. This wash day actually started out on Friday 20th April. When I got home I took down my bun and my hair looked like a birds nest. It wasn't really as tangled as it looked and only took about 20mins to detangle in 8 sections.
2. Once the detangling was complete I applied my ORS Replenishing Conditioner and Roux Porosity Control to my hair. I didn't make up a batch, I just mixed the amount of conditioner I required for each secion on the palm of my hand. I then covered my hair with a plastic bag and towel and set about making and eating dinner, which took an hour.
I had intended to rinse out the conditioner on Friday night and complete my wash day routine, but as the time passed I couldn't be bothered to spend hours on my hair so I decided to sleep in the conditioner. So, at bedtime I swapped the plastic bag and towel for a conditioning cap and my headscarf .
12hrs later I commenced with my wash day routine....

3. I rinsed out the conditioner and then did one shampoo of my scalp in two halves using Paul Mitchell Super Strong Shampoo. I wanted to add some protein to my wash day, but not too much as I think my hair reverts when I put too much protein on it. As ORS is heavy in oils I find it harder to get the residue off my scalp, especially when I have slept in it overnight. I then followed up with a second shampoo this time with Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrating Shampoo. I left this on for 1 minute before rinsing.

4. Next I applied a Matrix Biolage Cera-Repair capsule and left this on for 3 mins I didn't rinse before applying my black&green tea brew to my scalp. In honesty, I meant to add the tea first and then follow up with the Matrix Cera-Repair capsule but I got mixed up. I then put on my conditioning cap and covered this with a towel and waited for 20mins before applying Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm. I left this on for 1hr under my electric heated cap.
5. I rinsed out the moisturising deep conditioner whilst in the shower and applied a little Organix Nourishing Coconut Milk Conditioner.
6. I put a TShirt on my head for 15mins. At this point I noticed that my 'wisdom hairs' at the front of my head were rearing their ugly head, it seems that the colour rinse rinsed off really quickly. I decided to add a little more of the Adore rinse in Darkest Brown just to the grey hairs using a cotton bud (Q-Tip). I blowdried the section for a minute. I left the rinse on for 15mins before shampooing and deep conditioning the section.
7. I applyied my liquid leave in Infusium. My hair was about 60% dry at this point so I added creamy leave in's Bee Mine Deja's Hair Milk followed by Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditoner in 6 sections. I then sealed with grapeseed oil and two strand twisted each section.
8. I then went through each section, applied some Bee Mine Luscious and a little Organix Coconut Milk Anti Breakage Serum and then detangled with my HS Jumbo rake and then retwisted.
Shedding = Medium
Breakage = Low
I experienced more shedding this week. This is probably because I didn't do a black&green tea rinse, reduced intake of supplements and also because I have not combed my hair since the beginnning of the week as I've been bunning bunning bunning.
I lost equal amounts during the first finger detangling of the wash day (my helpful boyfriend threw away my collected shed hair before I got a chance to photograph it), the wash, the detangling and during the install of my cornrows. I'm not alarmed by the amount of hair lost. I have noticed that the back of my hair is super fine at the back and when compared to the front it has about two thirds of the density. I think this is hereidtary as my mums hair is virtually the same.
