D.I.Y. Braid Spray

"My new growth was feeling pretty dry all day yesterday, so when I got home I gave it a thorough spritzing with my homemade spritz."

I have been using this particular mix for just over a week and have only used it two or three times but I already love it.  I've made and used a similar mix last year but I prefer this version as it is much lighter as I omited the conditioner this time around.

The mix is made with water, glycerin, about a teaspoon of castor oil and 5 drops of peppermint essential oil.  I didn't measure I just poured the quantities by eye as indicated somewhat on the image below of a spray bottle which is the same as the one I use.

This is the exact same spray bottle that I use for most of my spritz's.  I filled the bottle with water up to the blue line, added glycerin up to the red line and then added castor oil to the black line where I added 5 drops of essential oil.

This spritz works brilliantly at introducing moisture to the entire length of my hair within the braids/twists and my new growth, it also smells delicious and minty.

I then followed this up with applying regular castor oil to my scalp, which always makes my new growth feel really yummy, especially after a good spritzing!

Four hours later my hair was still damp by bedtime so I blow-dried my roots and any wet spots along the length of the braid and then went to bed.

It is super important to make sure that your braids are not left wet for days after washing your hair in braids or after moisturising as this can encourage the growth of mold.
