What Is the ABHRS?
The ISHRS is an international society set up for education of doctors in the hair restoration field. The ABHRS is an examination taken by doctors to certify them for having passed and qualified for the “Board” issued by the ISHRS. Many doctors in the field may not have been certified by any specialty Board, so having some credentials is important and this ABHRS certification establishes those credentials. However, for me, as an example, I have been trained for 5 years in various surgical disciplines and have been certified by the official ‘Board of Surgery’ recognized worldwide by the formal certifying agency for surgeons. The ABHRS is a “Board Certification” that has not been formally approved by the certifying agency for Boards because there is no multi-year training required such as for the Surgical Board. Rather, it is the only certifying agency for a hair surgeon that reflects any formal understanding of this field.
