SSRI and Telogen Effluvium

You’ve said SSRIs can cause telegen affluvium. But do all men with Male pattern baldness who take SSRI get Telegen affluvium? And is it rare? What is the percentage that develop TE?

It is just known as a side effect of SSRIs. Taking SSRIs doesn’t mean that you will develop a telogen effluvium (FYI: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are a series of drugs that include:

  • citalopram (Cipramil)
  • dapoxetine (Priligy)
  • escitalopram (Cipralex)
  • fluoxetine (Prozac or Oxactin)
  • fluvoxamine (Faverin)
  • paroxetine (Seroxat)
  • sertraline (Lustral)
  • vortioxetine (Brintellix)
